Pocket all your balls (solids 1–7 or stripes 9–15) and then legally pot the 8-ball to win.

On the opening break, any ball may be hit first. The first ball pocketed determines types: the player who pockets it takes that group, their opponent takes the other. Until the first ball is pocketed, both players are open.

Once types are assigned, the cue ball must make first contact with one of your own balls — or the 8-ball if you are already in the 8-ball phase (no own balls left). Hitting an opponent's ball first is always a foul. Hitting the 8-ball first while you still have your own balls on the table is also a foul.

Before types are assigned, the cue ball may hit any ball — except the 8-ball first, which is always a foul.

The cue ball must make contact with at least one ball each shot. Hitting nothing is a foul.

Any foul gives the opponent 2 guaranteed shots. Shot 1 is always kept regardless of result. After shot 2 normal rules resume: pocket a ball to stay, miss to pass.

Bonus shots do not accumulate — a foul during bonus shots resets to 2 for the other player.

Opponent gets 2 shots plus ball in hand: click the head-string line to place the cue ball anywhere along it before shooting.

Each player has 20 seconds per shot. Running out of time passes the turn — no foul penalty.

Pot the 8-ball after clearing all your own balls. Potting the 8 early, or scratching on the 8, is an instant loss.

Same-pocket rule: when you pot your last ball, the pocket it enters becomes your target pocket for the 8. A golden ring highlights it on the table. Potting the 8 in any other pocket is an automatic loss.

Once all your own balls are pocketed you enter the 8-ball phase. From this point on you must hit the 8-ball first every shot — hitting any other ball first is a foul.

Target pocket: the pocket that received your last ball becomes your mandatory target for the 8. A golden ring marks it on the table. Potting the 8 in any other pocket is an instant loss.

Fouls in the 8-ball phase only pass the turn — the opponent does not receive 2 bonus shots. Normal play resumes on their next turn.

Both players lock in equal ETH bets on-chain. The winner receives 95% of the pot; 5% goes to the protocol. Settlement is automatic via smart contract on Abstract.
